• Substation Automation, Power and Distribution Management Systems
The commencement of having the SAS technology in Iran was in Kazerun
230kV Power Plant Substation and consequently Abadan 230kV P.P.
Substation and Damavand 400kV P.P. Substation. Ray-Avin-Fan Managers and
staff are honored to participate in these projects since the very
beginning phase of signing contract up to final take over to client in
all aspect of Commercial, Technical and Execution. Having this
background Ray-Avin-Fan is confident to handle similar projects. This
includes know-how transferring, Engineering, procurement and
commissioning along with Training of the End users staff in order to
operate and maintain the systems in the optimized way.
Since Iran is a country under development, potentially there is a good
opportunity in the Fields of Power Management Systems (PMS) and
Distribution Management System (DMS). There are so many inland and
offshore utilities that producing their Electrical Energy up to 10s of
MWatt and may have connection to national grid. They are mainly active
in Oil and Gas and Petrochemical Industries, Mine and Metal Complexes
and other Industrial factories. Due to comparable large amount of Energy
that these utilities produce and distribute, the importance of their
process and dependency of it to the quality of electricity, benefiting
from a Control, Monitoring and Managing system is vital to facilitate
their network Operation from one hand and shortening and reducing of the
maintenance time and cost from other hand. Therefore utilizing DMS and
PMS is becoming a must for these utilities. Ray-Avin-Fan participates in

• SCADA Systems and Dispatching Centers

locally, without considering the situation in the neighborhoods but
sometimes affecting them or getting affected from them by
malfunctioning. Nowadays by getting more complicated networks’ and their
high amount of generation and consumption, great tendencies exist to
Supervise, Control and Managing the whole network from one or several
Remote Centers with a defined hierarchy. This fact in Electricity,
Water, Oil and Gas and Railways Networks enables Clients to have the
best maneuverability over their network and assist and improve
intelligent decision-making because of presence of statistic.

• Power Management Systems (PMS)
The high dependency of some industries on the quality and
availability of Electrical Energy demands a certain level of Energy
Management who is able to comply these requirements from Generation,
Distribution and Consumption aspects. Power Management Systems is an
absolute answer to this requirement which not only can reduce the peak
demand of the load but also with the assistance of functions like Load
Shedding, Load Restoration, Source Transferring, will increase the
availability of the load supply. The stability in Voltage and Frequency
of the Supplies are other advantages of PMS.
The PMS technology is mostly used in Oil, GAS and Petrochemical
Industries, Marine, Industrial complexes and Utility plants that have
sensitive and essential loads.

• Distributed Control Systems
The necessity of optimized utilization from Industrial Complexes
from one side and the essence of maintaining the integrity of them
despite of the complexity of the technology, have created a tendency for
Industries towards Distributed Management Systems (DCS). But
implementation of DCS requires two fundamental prerequisite, first
knowing the process and it’s requirements and also the field
instrumentation, second having a background of IT knowledge.

implement the Telemetry, Monitoring and Control of PLC based Systems and

• Developing and Simulating of Communication Protocol Converters

protocols that have been used for sending and receiving the Telemetry
and Control information from Fields to Centers and between Centers were
not standardized. These protocols are mostly developed by the
Technological Giants and somehow have becoming defacto standards,
however in the most of cases these protocols were not able to
communicate with each other. Upon vast development of the Automated
Systems, Internet and Computers from one side and releasing of new “Open
System and Protocols” by standard organization from the other side, the
advantage of using of different systems and installation as well as
Monitoring and controlling them from different corners is becoming a
truth. To satisfy this uprising demand, one has to comply and coordinate
the existing and old plants systems with the new standards. And the
definite right tool for making this coordination is nothing but Protocol
Converters and Simulators.
Having a basic and advanced knowledge of the old and update protocols
such as MODBUS, DNP-3, PROFI-BUS, LON, TG800, IEC60870-5-101, IEC
60870-5-103, ETC, gives us the power to develop any sort of protocol
converters for the proprietary protocols of the Utilities and Industries.
